About the event

BBOWT's aim is to empower more local groups to take action for nature on their patch. At this interactive session we will help you develop your skills and confidence in leading groups. 

This workshop will cover:

  • Leadership qualities
  • Motivations and leadership styles
  • The leader’s role
  • Health & Safety
  • Planning & leading a group
  • Tools talks
  • Challenging situations

The learning objectives for the day are:

  • Understand volunteers’ motivations
  • Understanding group dynamics and the roles group members can play
  • Learning to delegate
  • Understanding the importance of planning
  • Understanding and applying risk assessments and other safety processes
  • Increased confidence in leading groups

Weather permitting, we will be outside for some of the session and may go on a lunch time wander so bring weather-appropriate clothing.

Refreshments (teas, coffees, biscuits & fruit) will be provided, please let organiser know of any dietary requirements before the session.

Please bring your own lunch. We do have a cafe on site so lunch can be purchased there.
