Home Educators Day: River Investigation, Tuesday 21 May
About the event
A great day of learning and play for home educating families, this month themed around our river! You'll become geographers and take river measurements including width, depth and flow - then transform into biologists using nets to sample the water and discover the invertebrates that live there. Use your results to work out how healthy the river is. REMEMBER YOUR WELLIES so you can wade in the river! They'll also be lots of other activities from across the curriculum, sticking to the theme of water and wildlife, spread across our beautiful nature reserve. Spring is here, the mud is drying up and there is a whole new green, flowery world to explore. Don't forget to pop into the wildlife garden and see what's growing to eat this year!
This event is suitable for children aged 4-11 years with an accompanying adult. There will be a range of activities with links across the curriculum, and a lovely chance to meet other local home educating families in a beautiful outdoor setting. There will be a led stream measuring and dipping session to sign up for when you arrive, and a range of self led activities around the nature reserve. (Led session slots will be allocated on a first come first served basis, if you especially require an early slot please arrive on time!). We run home educators' days on a bimonthly basis, keep an eye on the website for more dates or ask to join our mailing list.
We are committed to keeping our visitors, staff and volunteers safe. Please DO NOT attend if you or your child are unwell, or testing positive for an infectious illness, such as COVID-19. Your consideration is hugely appreciated.
