Home Educators' Day: Marvellous Mammals - Sutton Courtenay, Tuesday 18 November
About the event
It's autunm, and the mammals are preparing for winter. Hedgehogs, badgers, bats, voles - come learn what a mammal is, how we identify mammals from the tracks and signs they leave behind, and help check the mammal traps and footprint tunnels we've set overnight. (Please arrive on time if you wish to see the mammal traps being opened.) Activities will span multiple areas of the curriculum. There will be some sessions at specific times led by our learning team, and other self-led activities to take part in around the nature reserve at your own pace.
Most activities will be outdoors - please come dressed for the weather. Our quiet reading and sensory tray space will be open in the classroom too. Bring a picnic to enjoy at the picnic benches. Hot drinks and squash provided.
The day is suitable for children aged 4 to 11 years with an accompanying adult (it's ok to bring younger siblings along so long as you can still support your older child with the activities). We run home educators days on a bimonthly basis, keep an eye on the website for more dates or ask to join our mailing list. Please share this opportunity with your home educating friends!
Please note the centre is accessible by public transport with regular buses (including connection to Didcot Parkway railway station) serving Milton Park, a few minutes walk from the centre.
We are committed to keeping our visitors, staff and volunteers safe. Please DO NOT attend if you or your child are unwell, or testing positive for an infectious illness, such as COVID-19. Your consideration is hugely appreciated.
