About the event

Join the knowledgeable team from Buckinghamshire’s Fungus Group to discover what fungi and slime moulds are hiding on our reserve!

We will be heading out to explore areas of the site to find, identify, collect and compare fungi and slime moulds in different habitats. These will then be used in a display as a part of the ‘Wider Fascinating Fungi and Secretive Slime Moulds’ Event running for UK Fungus Day at College Lake.

Please note that the group shall be splitting in two to explore different areas of the site, though you will have a chance to see what each team collected when you reunite.  As the group are to heading off the main track, please take extra care to bring water and wear suitable clothing (we recommend closed-toed shoes and long trousers).

Our trampers/mobility scooter are unfortunately not available for these walking routes, but you will have a chance to see the collected fungi in the display in the Bat Roost 15 minutes from the visitor centre. 

Please be aware:

• Please arrive on time at the Visitor Centre where we will start our walk. The session lasts 1h30 and involves gentle walking around the site.
• This activity takes place outdoors and we recommend appropriate clothing for all weathers.

• Booking can either be done via website or if on the day – at the shop (providing there is space)
