Wildlife Trust chief executive Estelle Bailey named one of the UK's most impactful sustainability leaders

Estelle Bailey MBE, Chief Executive of Berkshire, Buckinghamshire & Oxfordshire Wildlife Trust (BBOWT), has been named one of the UK's most impactful sustainability leaders in the inaugural edie 100 list.

The new edie 100 initiative spotlights the most influential, impactful and inspirational individuals working across all aspects of corporate sustainability and climate action.

Estelle said, "I’m truly honoured (and a little surprised!) to be named in this year’s edie Top 100 Sustainability Leaders.

"To be recognised alongside so many thoughtful, determined and creative people working for a better future is both humbling and energising. Thank you to the judges and to everyone who continues to push the boundaries of what sustainability and regeneration can mean in practice.

"If we design with nature, invest in it and treat it as essential infrastructure, we unlock extraordinary opportunities for people, place and future generations."

Estelle is advancing pioneering approaches to natural capital restoration and nature-rich placemaking across one of England’s most development-pressured regions, working with local authorities, landowners and Oxford institutions to embed nature into economic growth and planning.

BBOWT was one of the first organisations to create and register biodiversity net gain habitat banks with Natural England to enable developers to purchase biodiversity credits to ensure their developments contribute to nature’s recovery.

Estelle set up Future Nature Wildlife Trust Consultancy providing a comprehensive range of professional ecological and environmental services to clients including local authorities, commercial companies, utility and infrastructure providers and homeowners. She also sits on the board of the UK Green Building Council
