Help bring wildlife back

Can you help us make a difference and bring wildlife back to our countryside?

Farmers we speak to don't have time to wait for systems and policies to change. Farmland wildlife like skylarks and yellowhammers, brown hairstreak butterflies and bumblebees can't wait either.

To truly have an impact on nature’s recovery, our work must extend far beyond our precious nature reserves. Farmland makes up 68% of Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire - restoring wildlife here is key to making a lasting difference.

We have a very clear vision of what nature-friendly farming means for our three counties: more wildlife, healthy soils, improved water quality and nutritious foods. Your support can make it happen.

Bringing back farmland wildlife

Many species found in farmland are under threat, but managing the land with nature in mind can make a huge difference to their future.

Hares

The characterful hare needs quiet corners to shelter their young and grassland to feed in
Skylark singing whilst hovering high in the sky

Skylarks

Bare plots in arable fields give ground-nesting birds a better chance of breeding

Wetlands

Ponds and backwaters provide homes for species like frogs, toads and dragonflies

A countryside under pressure... but there is hope

Farming is a vital activity in our countryside and has a huge influence on our landscapes and wildlife. As farmers increasingly recognise that working with nature is essential to a healthy and resilient food system, the need for BBOWT's expertise has never been greater.
