Donations (Financial & in-kind)
Business donations
Sometimes a company would like to donate to protect local wildlife, without any formal partnership or staff engagement activities attached. We are always grateful to receive such donations in line with our ethical policy.
If you would like to tell your customers that you are making a donation in relation to sales of goods and/or services, then to comply with charity and fundraising law, you might need to enter into a Commercial Participation Agreement with us. Please see more on cause-related marketing below.
Pro bono work or in-kind donation
Help us with your time or expertise. Pro bono work can significantly bolster the efforts of BBOWT by providing professional volunteering, essential expertise and resources, enabling us to better protect and preserve natural habitats and wildlife. For example, management consultancy, legal advice, access to software or maintenance works needed at our reserves and visitors centres. We welcome many types of in-kind donations of products or services that can help us achieve more for nature in our three counties.
Please contact us and let us know what skills or resources your organisation would be willing to contribute.
Sponsor a project
Your business can invest in a variety of BBOWT projects that benefit people and nature, for example, by restoring habitats, reintroducing species, elevating community wellbeing, or driving green employment opportunities.
What we can offer
When you sponsor a BBOWT project, we can help your company communicate your commitment to nature’s recovery through:
- Press releases, newspaper articles, social media, and in BBOWT’s own digital and print newsletters.
- We can also co-brand projects, nature reserves, and events with your company logo.
Contact us for a list of upcoming projects you can support.
Cause-related marketing
Cause-related marketing, or affinity marketing, is a great way to engage new audiences and demonstrate your support for nature recovery. Cause-related marketing connects brands with positive social and environmental outcomes, fostering meaningful engagement with nature, customers, staff and partners, and communities.
By promoting your product or service with BBOWT, businesses can enhance brand identity and drive positive change. Tell us how your business, product or service will contribute to our environmental aims and goals.

Fundraising events
Whether you fancy running a cake or plant stall, or undertaking a sponsored walk, swim or canoe; the funds you raise will go towards protecting wildlife and wild places. Our fundraising pack is also full of ideas, including a link to set up your own fundraising page on JustGiving.
There is always a buzz about participating in our annual events that you might enjoy as a basis for your fundraising.
- 30 Days Wild is our June challenge, encouraging you to embrace nature every day in any way - large or small.
- The Big Wild Walk is held in October during school half term, encouraging the nation to get outdoors. Take on one big hike or a leisurely walk over two weeks; the only competition is against yourself.
- The BBOWT photo competition features nature-themed categories for adults and children, with wild prizes from BBOWT and our supporters! You are very welcome to use this format to set up a competition for your staff at any time of year. We’d love to see the pictures!
You don’t have to tell us before you start fundraising for us, but we’d really love to hear from you and will be happy to provide a digital certificate to acknowledge your efforts.
Payroll Giving
Encourage your employees to support our conservation efforts through payroll giving. Regular, tax-efficient donations can help protect wildlife and preserve natural habitats, fostering a culture of environmental responsibility and making a difference to nature’s recovery.
To encourage and reward participation, many employers choose to offer a percentage matching incentive, which makes employee donations have an even greater impact.
We currently receive donations from several payroll giving organisations: Benevity-Charitable Giving, The GivingForce Foundation, and Giveall.

Employee engagement and volunteering
From wellbeing events and wild work team days, to individual employee volunteering, BBOWT can engage and motivate your employees - and help nature near you. For more details on the types of opportunities we offer, see our employee engagement page.
