BBOWT Photography Competition 2025

It's time to give it your best shot!

 

Our annual photography competition celebrating the wildlife and wild places of Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire is open for entries until 31 August 2025.

With a great selection of prizes to be won, we can't wait to see your images!

The competition is free to enter but we welcome donations to the Nature Recovery Fund - our biggest ever fundraising appeal.

Categories

You can submit up to four photographs across eight categories.

Taken anywhere in Berkshire, Buckinghamshire or Oxfordshire:

  • Children & teens: all images of nature
  • Nature on your doorstep: garden/urban/local wildlife

Taken on a BBOWT nature reserve:

  • BBOWT reserves: landscapes & people: views, visitors and volunteers
  • Mammals & other animals: from hares and hedgehogs to lizards and frogs
  • Birds: incl. portraits, action shots and birds in flight
  • Butterflies & other insects: beautiful butterflies and insect life
  • Flowers & fungi: colourful blooms and fantastic fungi
  • Mobile phone photography: landscape views and wildlife photos

In addition, up to 10 images will be selected from across all categories for a public vote. This People’s Choice winner will feature on the cover of BBOWT's 2026 wildlife calendar.

Prizes

Free to enter and open to all ages, this is your chance to win a bundle of great prizes and feature in the BBOWT 2026 wildlife calendar.

All category winners, runners up, and highly-commended photographers will receive a copy of our 2026 calendar, a certificate, and BBOWT tote bag. Category winners will also be invited to a photography workshop with Steve Gozdz of GG Wildlife Experiences.

Children & teens

A chance for budding young photographers to show off their skills. Our young winner will be invited to a photography workshop and will receive a BBOWT certificate and tote bag, plus a selection of nature books for their school.

We want to inspire a lifelong love of nature - discover wonderful wildlife through the lens of your camera!

Images must be taken in Berkshire, Buckinghamshire or Oxfordshire.

Nature on your doorstep

Celebrate nature near you - from birds at your feeder and frogs in your pond, to backyard bugs and urban foxes.

Wildlife can be found all around, in our towns and cities, allotments, gardens and green spaces. Introduce us to your wild neighbours!

Images must be taken in Berkshire, Buckinghamshire or Oxfordshire.

Help promote our wonderful reserves with your best landscape and people pictures. Show us your favourite view, families having fun, or inspiring images of volunteers in action.
