About the event
Despite all the scaffolding in place, Econet’s annual Beanpole Day is on Saturday April 18th from 10.00-15.00 at Caversham Court gardens, Church Road, Caversham. Enter by the side gate or from St Peters churchyard.
We have everything you and your garden might need for an environmentally friendly summer including:
- natural beanpoles and plant supports from local woodland management
- locally grown ornamental and vegetable plants and trees
- home-made cakes and jams
- local craftsmen with wooden bowls, decorations, bird tables, hedgehog homes, walking sticks, house signs to order
- second-hand tools
- a range of environmental charities offering advice on conservation and wildlife gardening, global justice, bee-keeping, how to grow vegetables, climate change, and much more!
The Repair Cafe tool sharpener will be there to bring your secateurs and shears into good order and the Bicycle Hub are there to give your bicycle a once-over maintenance check and offer secure storage for bikes during the event. they are also happy to receive unwanted bikes that they can refurbish and sell to keep this charity going.
Bring a picnic to have on the grass by the Thames or have a coffee and a snack produced by Ways and Means in the garden kiosk.
There is no parking, other than very limited disabled parking, at Caversham Court so please come by bus, bicycle or foot or park in local side roads and walk down. We will have a creche available for all of your purchases so that you can come down later with a car and quickly load any bulky or heavy stuff.
