Home Educators' Day: Lifecycles with Pond Dipping - Sutton Courtenay, Tuesday 10 March
About the event
Spring is springing, and all around us lifecycles are playing out. Come discover the nymphs and larvae (do you know the difference?) lurking in the ponds and woodlands. Explore the different lifecycles of birds, mammals, amphibians, insects and more through outdoor activities while learning how you can help the wildlife on your own doorstep. Sign up for a timed pond dipping workshop on arrival - first come first served. Be aware if you arrive later you may not get your first choice of time. There will be an opportunity to examine your finds under the microscope. We will have a variety of other self-led lifecycle themed activities dotted around the nature reserve and education centre. Our quiet reading and sensory tray space will be open in the classroom too.
Most activities will be outdoors - please come dressed for the weather. Bring a picnic to enjoy at the picnic benches. Hot drinks and squash provided.
The day is suitable for children aged 4 to 11 years with an accompanying adult (it's ok to bring younger siblings along so long as you can still support your older child with the activities). We run home-educators days on a bi-monthly basis, keep an eye on the website for more dates or ask to join our mailing list.
Please note the centre is accessible by public transport with regular buses (including connection to Didcot Parkway railway station) serving Milton Park, a few minutes walk from the centre.
