About the event

Join us to learn about winter and what is happening on the reserve. The animals are hungry - find out what the owls have been eating in our pellet dissection workshop! Using tweezers and magnifiers, your child will carefully extract the bony contents of a real owl pellet and learn about the owl's diet and behaviour first hand. Sign up for a timed workshop on arrival. We will have a variety of other self-led activities dotted around the nature reserve from charcoal drawing to becoming a meteorologist and recording the measuring the weather.

Most activities will be outdoors - please come dressed for the weather. (Pellet workshop will be inside.) Our quiet reading and sensory tray space will be open in the classroom too. Bring a picnic to enjoy at the picnic benches. Hot drinks and squash provided.

The day is suitable for children aged 4 to 11 years with an accompanying adult (it's ok to bring younger siblings along so long as you can still support your older child with the activities). We run home-educators days on a bi-monthly basis, keep an eye on the website for more dates or ask to join our mailing list.

Please note the centre is accessible by public transport with regular buses (including connection to Didcot Parkway railway station) serving Milton Park, a few minutes walk from the centre.
