Chalk Streams in Crisis - Online talk
About the event
Join Allen Beechey Chiltern Chalk Streams Project Officer for the Chiltern AONB as he describe the efforts involved protecting these habitats
One of the most wonderful features of living in the Chiltern Hills is the sight and sound of crystal clear springs and streams of chalk filtered water flowing down through the beech wooded valleys. However, these streams are threatened by an increasing human population demanding ever more water as well as pollution, climate change or straightforward neglect. Working hard to preserve these precious water features is Allen Beechey Chiltern Chalk Streams Project Officer for Chiltern AONB. Born in Chesham, a keen angler with a Masters in Aquatic Resource Management from Kings College London, Allen will describe the efforts involved to ensure these freshwater habitats become enriched with wildlife once again, welcoming back water voles and abundant river flies. Both important indicators of a healthy environment.
The talk will be hosted on Zoom and a link to join will be included in the confirmation email. We request you purchase a 'per screen' ticket. As many people who can safely gather around a screen can watch.
