About the event
A New Leaf is the story of a woodland, which one Spring, discovers a mysterious and enchanting new leaf. At first the woods are dazzled by its beauty, but over time the new leaves present problems for the plants and animals that live peacefully together. It takes a renegade woodpecker to uncover the dark secret, and when the forest discovers that the new leaves are plastic waste, the animals reach out to the next generation of humans to rekindle a forgotten relationship.
A New Leaf has been performed at Green Gathering Festival, Hardcastle Crags (National Trust), Liverpool Irish Festival, and forest schools in Yorkshire. The show is written and performed by Brian Acton; a song-writer, composer and educator who lives in Yorkshire. He has performed at folk and jazz festivals throughout the UK, Europe and America; directs numerous exciting projects including ‘Gigs4Kids’, and is Musician in Residence at Hardcastle Crags National Trust, Calderdale.
A New Leaf is ideally aimed at children (and their grown-ups) aged 7+.
The Oxford Festival of Nature is a 2 week events programme run by BBOWT and collaborative partners across the city of Oxford between the 22 May to 7 June 2020.
