Bug hunt by Ric Mellis
Home Educators' Day: Mad About Minibeasts - Sutton Courtenay, Tuesday 7 July
About the event
Follow the minibeast trail to explore the summer nature reserve, alive with buzzing, hopping, jumping and flying, then join our learning team to have a go at meadow sweeping and learn more about about the amazing invertebrates living in the long grass. In the morning there will also be a chance to help open up the moth trap and discover some of the beautiful creatures that come out after dark. Our quiet reading and sensory tray space will be open in the classroom too. This event is suitable for children aged 4-11 years with an accompanying adult. There will be a range of activities from across the curriculum, and a lovely chance to meet other local home educating families in a beautiful outdoor setting.
Most activities will be outdoors - please come dressed for the weather. Bring a picnic to enjoy at the picnic benches. Hot drinks and squash provided, small cash donation appreciated.
The day is suitable for children aged 4 to 11 years with an accompanying adult (it's ok to bring younger siblings along, so long as you can still support your older child with the activities). We run home-educators days on a bi-monthly basis, keep an eye on the website for more dates or ask to join our mailing list. Please share this event with your home educating community!
Please note the centre is accessible by public transport with regular buses (including connection to Didcot Parkway railway station) serving Milton Park, a few minutes walk from the centre.
