Engaging with Nature is an exciting new project that will enable BBOWT to use nature to help people improve their mental health and wellbeing.
We would love to meet you if you have a passion for nature and wildlife, and particularly enjoy sharing your interests with other people. This unpaid voluntary role is a great way for you to develop and/or continue to use your skills in the Nature Therapy sector.
As an Engaging with Nature Project Volunteer you will help the Nature Discovery Centre Community Wildlife team to deliver outdoor sessions designed to improve the mental wellbeing of individuals from our partner organisations. We are looking for volunteers with:
- Excellent communication skills
- Friendly, approachable manner
- Ability to attend training and occasional meetings
- A basic understanding of Mental Health issues
- An interest in Nature Therapy
- Ability to volunteer with a range of people from different age groups and backgrounds
You will be comfortable assisting the team in an outdoor and natural setting throughout the seasons. Initially these sessions will take place weekly on a Friday at The Nature Discovery Centre in Thatcham. There will be a selection of activities on offer/things which need setting up. This will include: a campfire, preparing food and drinks, wildlife exploration and a creative activity. Please see the Role Description for further details.
