The Wildlife Trainee role involves practical conservation work on Chimney Meadows, Letcombe Valley, Foxholes and the Cothill Fen nature reserves; restoring and improving habitats for wildlife. As a trainee, you will help to look after our livestock, repair and install site infrastructure, work with power tools and machinery, carry out species surveys and work with volunteers. We would also like you to be able to talk to visitors and be involved in guided walks after some training. 

Alongside the invaluable day-to-day learning experiences, you will receive a substantial amount of training. This will include external training such as the First Aid at Work +Forestry certificate and NPTC certification in chainsaw felling small trees and crosscutting. There is also a programme of in-house training including courses such as using and maintaining brushcutters, leading practical groups, and tool maintenance, as well opportunities to learn species and survey skills on some rapid assessments and surveys. Limited travel expenses are also available.

The position would suit those wishing to develop the skills required to follow a career in the conservation sector. Applicants should have a keen interest in UK wildlife conservation, learning and imparting conservation knowledge, a good level of physical fitness, a valid UK driving licence and be willing to supervise and lead volunteers. Relevant volunteering experience is also desirable.
